Opus # 12 Aura Verna Sensa (spring breeze)
...This violin features a one piece French maple back (slab cut) and
a one piece top of high toned cello silver spruce wood (~ 200 year old tree).
...I find that the 'out side of the tree' wood, is naturally higher toned, and will result in an instrument which is more responsive and lighter weight.
...The name Aura Vernam Sensa literally means: "spring like breeze having been felt". As this violin was being made in March of 2002, I composed this poem :
" clear cold nights,
moderate sunny days,
bulbs pushing covering dead leaves skyward,
birds bright songs,
spring is nearby."
...The violin is finished in a warm orange-brown tone....
...At the bottom of the page is the maximum loudness bowing chart test:
showing the potential of this instrument.
...This violin was purchased in March 2006. The new owner reports '...I have fallen in love with this violin and know that i'll have it for the rest of my life.'...thank you for making such a wonderful violin.'
The red line is Strad concert violin test from the literature. the black
line is opus # 12. The G string is somewhat weaker, the E somewhat
stronger, with the D and A strings approximately equal. Tone is wonderful. "A very polished sound " according to my instructor. A fine instrument!
{again, by the time this instrument sold in 2006, its performance had increased from this early results test.}
