Opus # 10
"Gaudium Nuntiare"
(To Announce Joy or Good News)
...The top is of high toned cello wood (outside wood from a 200 year old European silver spruce). It is made in two pieces and is angled to transmit sound diagonally up the top plate more effeciently.
...The back is made in one piece from slab cut French maple. It is lightly flamed and ribs and neck are also cut from the same tree.
...This instrument was completed in December, 2001 with various updates through out the years. It is in fine music making condition.
...This violin was made during the Christmas season (2001). It is recorded that the angel brought a message saying: "... I bring you tidings of great joy, today in the city of David, a son is born... who is Christ the Lord"...., thus the title.
..Current loudness testing shows good power on all four strings, see test chart at bottom of page: (tone is rich...)
...This violin seems to capture the listeners attention... and keep it!
...photos are below:
... I have since used this violin to test "area tuning" concepts and my violin teacher uses it as a backup fiddle when he is playing engagements with his 1700's Italian violin. I will update it to my current standards sometime in the future; so it not available for sale at this time.
Plenty of power and fine tone as well.
