This was my first purchased violin and has the added distinction of being (as far as I have been able to determine) the world's first angle grain top plate. If you look closely, you may be able to see that the grain of the top wood goes at an angle to the centerline of the instrument. This allows the best sound to travel to the large vibrating areas of the lower and upper bouts instead of running into the two end wood blocks inside which reinforce the neck and end pin area. This does seem to add something to the tone.
...I recently spent several weeks upgrading the plate graduations and other adjustments to my latest standards; which reflects my increased skills in instrument making since I sold this violin. The owners are pleased with the results and I did the work at no cost to them; just an example of the level of service my customers receive when they trust their violin purchase to me.
She says the tone of her violin is steadily improving with the years.
