This violin will spend the next 30 days in a special reflective box which has two 20 watt ultra violet fluorescent light bulbs on, 24 hours a day. (with pan of water in bottom so as to prevent excessive drying out) Note how much the back plate has already darkened since it was put in when it was completed.(it used to be just a white as top) In this manner, both the inside wood and out side surfaces benefit from UV treatment. This does wonderful things to the instrument tone. My guess is that this is equivalent to 6 months hanging in the sun in a warm climate.
