. . Castings remachined as necessary to remove casting warpage.
. . A machined knurl rolled on to the hub casting rubber surface to
improve rubber bond. (see slide show above for details)
. . (10) holes machined in hub rubber bonding surface to increase
press-a-part strength by 40%.
. . Oil seal surface trued if out of round to ensure good oil seal
performance. The seal surface is then machine polished.
. . Course sand blasting to remove old paint and key rubber bonding.
. . I fit a special electrical grounding beryllium copper coil spring in
rubber gap before rubber bonding. This spring bleeds off static electricity created by the fan belt to prevent radio static.
. . I bond together with a special compound of black high temperature silicone rubber. I have formulated this rubber to give the Chevrolet factory's harmonic balancer frequency of 222 cycles per second tuning. This is the ideal tuning frequency, according to the GM technical department test literature.
This special rubber can operate at 400 degrees F. without hardening which is ideal for this application, ensuring long life and engine protection.
. . Unless I am mistaken, we are your only source for properly designed harmonic balancer function now. This should contribute to quiet engine operation and long life of the rotating engine parts.
